I act as a consultant and expert for various organisations, including the European Commission, on European higher education policy.
I have been involved in
projects relevant to EU education and training, including European student loans, Erasmus Mundus and Transatlantic agreements.
I strongly believe that no matter how busy or where we are, serving the community we are part of, be it local, regional, or global, can only be valuable to other people as well as ourselves. Having lived in six countries over three continents, I am particularly engaged in promoting intercultural exchange and understanding. I am currently involved in the following activities:
Ecole.Net: is the charity I set up in 2004 to facilitate educational exchange and intercultural understanding through e-learning. So far we have conducted missions in Ihosy, Madagascar and Sainte-Marie Reunion Island. We are presently trying to raise funds for a mission in Tanzania.
Speaker's Bureau Program:
I give a series of talks to facilitate intercultural understanding in various institutions in the San Francisco Bay Area sponsored by the Speaker's Bureau Program of the International House of UC Berkeley. Upcoming talk at an English as a Second Language Facility in Oakland on the 8th of April 2011.
Goodenough College: I also support Goodenough College, where I spent several happy years as a graduate student in London and was a member of the academic board. I am presently the contact person for the following upcoming event: celebration of Goodenough College 80th anniversary in San Francisco, Edinburgh Castle Pub, 950 Geary Street, Thursday 7th of April 2011 at 630pm.
